The MakRak journey started when Steve & Donna bought a Volkswagen Transporter Kombi early 2022, wanting a 5 seat family car that could be used as a daily vehicle but could be transformed to use as a campervan at weekends.
The MakRak journey started when Steve & Donna bought a Volkswagen Transporter Kombi early 2022, wanting a 5 seat family car that could be used as a daily vehicle but could be transformed to use as a campervan at weekends.
However, wanting to retain the inherent flexibility in the kombi type vehicle they found the space offered in most campervan conversions to be sub-optimal and saw no requirement for cooking or washing in the vehicle. After having the VW (soon known as ‘Mac’) professionally insulated, soundproofed and carpet lined as well as a 240v electric system added, they set about building their own bespoke bed and storage system using simple DIY tools.
After a great season of adventures with ‘Mac’ they then decided to see what the system would be like made of steel. This brings us to the product launch of ‘MakRak’ which we believe offers the perfect compromise of versatility, utility and camping comfort in your van without converting your van.
